The Capital City of India, had been the seat of
Power of number of dynasties. New Delhi, was designed
by The British. Delhi, the Political, Cultural
& economic capital of the world's largest
democracy, has become an important tourist &
Conference center.
Old Delhi: Visit Raj Ghat (where father of the
nation, Mahatma Gandhi was cremated 1948 AD),
Red Fort (1639-1648 AD built by builder of Taj
Mahal - Shahjehan and famous for its delicately
curved, inlaid and marbled Royal Chambers), Jama
Masjid (India's largest mosque, built of red sandstone
and white marble by Emperor Shah Jehan in the
17th century. Three sides of the great courtyard
are bordered by delicate cloisters leading out
of the three gateways) and drive past Chandni
Chowk, the northern gate of the mosque leads on
to this once Imperial avenue down which rode lavish
cavalcades. Now a days, everything rides down
Chandni Chowk, bullock carts, horse carriage,
scooter-taxis etc.
New Delhi: Visit Humayun Tomb (1565 AD) aptly
called predecessor of Taj Mahal, 72 meters high
Qutab Tower (12th Century AD) - one of the most
perfect towers in the world, near by amidst the
ruins of Quwat-Ul-Eslam Mosque stands the Iron
Pillar which does not rust and has stood the vagaries
of weather for 1500 years. India gate (the Country's
memorial to the unknown soldiers), drive past
Embassy Area (Diplomatic Enclave), Govt. buildings
(1921-30 AD) - Central Secretariat, President's
House, Parliament House, Laxmi Narayan Temple
- 1938 AD and Connaught Place - New Delhi's main
shopping center & Down-Town Area. |
